Inspection lifecycle
Purpose
Describe what happens from inspection planning through execution, oversight, reporting, and insight generation.
Lifecycle stages
1) Plan and schedule
An inspection is created for a site and scope (asset or asset type). Scheduling typically includes:
- a scheduled date/time window
- optional notes for the inspector
- optional approval requirement (tenant-configured)
2) Assign
An inspection is assigned to an inspector (or inspector group depending on tenant setup). Assignment determines who sees it under Conduct Inspection.
3) Conduct
The inspector completes the inspection using Conduct Inspection, filling template-defined fields and attaching evidence where required.
4) Submit
When submitted, the inspection becomes an official record used for:
- oversight review
- reporting
- asset trend analysis
5) Review and follow-up
Supervisors and managers review inspection outcomes, identify follow-up tasks using their operational process, and track completion.
6) Report and analyse
Reports and insights consolidate inspection history across:
- time periods
- sites and regions
- assets and asset types
- inspectors and teams
Key integrity principle
Submitted inspections should be treated as factual records. Corrections should follow your organisation’s governance process.
