Inspections and templates
Purpose
Explain what inspections capture and how templates ensure consistent, comparable results.
Inspections
An inspection is a structured record of findings for a site and asset context. Inspections typically include:
- condition checks
- compliance checks
- measurements or readings
- notes and observations
- evidence (photos) where required
Inspections become part of inspection history and are used for oversight, reporting, and insights.
Templates
Templates define the inspection form. A template controls:
- which fields appear
- which fields are required
- field types (text, number, select, photo/evidence)
- the structure needed for comparability across time
Governance guidance
Templates should be managed with care. In enterprise environments, introduce a simple governance rule:
- changes should be reviewed before rollout
- inspectors should be notified of template changes
- critical fields should remain stable to support long-term trends
